Round 2

Our second craft night was another big success!  I have to thank all of the ladies that attended...it was a great night!  I love that I now have something to look forward to each month will a bunch of awesome gals!  A big thanks to Danielle, Renee, Jen, Autumn, Kim, Lisa, Diana, and Sherry for making it out and contributing!  Here's what we did...

Danielle did a fabulous job completing her very 1st afghan!  It looks awesome, and the colors were so perfect for fall.  Beautiful!

I started out the night making necklace kits for the "newbies" who wanted to learn how to make jewelry.

Autumn worked on a beautiful gold/beaded necklace...she's turning into a real pro!  Renee and Sherry tried their hand at jewelry making with the new kits, and did a fabulous job!

Jen brought in these amazing peanut butter chip brownies, which were the perfect sweet treat to finish with after we had Diana's yummy bbq pulled chicken!  Who knew crafters would also make great cooks!

Kim taught me how to make these awesome carved pumpkins...She's got a real talent for being able to visualize and then just create off of the top of her head (I'm jealous!)....I'm sooo ready for the Halloween season, it's my favorite time of year!

I wonder what we'll make next month?!!!!

Coming Up...Round 2...!!!

I can't believe how fast time flies!  It's the end of September, which means that Craft Night is upon us!!  I'm pumped about this one because the first one turned out wonderfully...I'm also anxious to see who's a repeat visitor and whether we get any new blood for the group.

I've been checking in with everyone to see what kind of progress they've made towards their projects...I have to say, I'm sooo impressed!  It sounds like we've got some new die-hard crocheters and jewelry makers.  I love that I'm spreading the craft-bug to more and more people...it makes me feel more sane when others share my insanity! :)

This has got me thinking...we should probably include a short time at the beginning of our sessions for "show and tell".  Whenever I've gone to other get-togethers in the past, it was always neat to see what everyone had been working on since we met.  Nothing makes you feel better than getting to proudly show what you've worked so hard to complete!  So, if you're reading this and planning on attending the craft night TOMORROW, be sure bring anything you'd like to show-off!

This nifty little blog thingy allows me to "show and tell" whenever I feel like it, so to make up for my lackluster post earlier this September, here's what I've been working on....

I'm thrilled with how the blue/brass part turned out and I love the mustard-yellow jewels, but I'm not sure I'm 100% happy with having both of them on there.  I'm going to live with it for a bit and see if it grows on me, if all else, I'll make it asymmetrical (my favorite thing to do).

This one is by far my favorite necklace I've made so far...it's kind of a silvery/purple/gray color scheme, and I've worn it a bunch since I've made it!  It goes with everything and is really fun!  I'll definitely be making more like this!

Reminder....The Last Tuesday Craft Night is TOMORROW (9/28)!!!  Stop by my office anytime after 5:30pm, bring a snack if you'd like to share (Diana is contributing some pulled chicken for some substance and I'll have a bunch of yummy Tastefully Simple dips to share)!!  And most importantly, bring your project that you'd like to work on!  All are welcome!!!

The September Slump

Well, September is proving to be a challenging month for me on the crafty/productivity front.  I think it's because the fall breezes and the cool temperatures have given me fall cleaning fever, similar to spring cleaning, but more geared towards removal of clutter!  I think with the Holidays looming ever closer I feel the need to rid myself of the clutter surrounding me so that I can focus more on the people, things, and activities that matter most to me!  Am I the only one, or does anyone else out there do that too?

I did get my jewelry-making supplys out last night...I decided that I'd sit down and finally sort through the bags and bags of beads that had not yet found a home in my supply.  You throw in a little Vampire Diaries (season 1 dvd) and it's a fun, productive, and entertaining post-dinner evening for me!  So, little to report on the project end, but a lot of progress on the de-clutter my life process!!!  Until then...

Labor Day...

Happy post-Labor Day to you all!!!  My weekend was great, but filled with a lot of work (I guess it was an appropriate holiday)!  We're working on finishing our basement...that term..."finishing our basement" is used very loosely, considering that to finish it required DEMOLISHING it first!  It's a bit intimidating, but fun at the same time.  There's nothing like taking out some frustrations on a wall that you're tearing down to make the weekend fun!  The end goal is that the finished basement will provide a cozy place for my new craft room/guest room to live, as well as movie nights, and hopefully craft nights!  I'm super duper excited!!  Because of all the construction-via-demolishing that's taking place, my craft supply sadly had to be boxed up and stored away...but, I did manage to make it out to visit one of my favorite quilt shops for some fun goodies when the hubby and I took a quick motorcycle ride out for some supplies.  Check out what I found....

How cute is this?!  I am absolutely obsessed with feedsack fabrics!  I think I was secretly born in the wrong era, because this totally speaks to me :) If it speaks to you too and you just have to have it, you can find it here!!!

I also had to leave with this awesome little wall-hanging!  It was so cute and it contains the three criteria for a must when it comes to me buying something...it has buttons, it's black and white, and it has to do with Halloween!!!  I'm so excited!!!  If you can't live without it, you can get it here!!

Enjoy....

Numero Uno

Well ladies and gentlemen ladies...Craft Night Numero Uno is officially under our belts!  It was a blast, and I'm so thankful for all the wonderful women that attended!  We had a great turnout of eleven (and a half), which I was very impressed with!  We ate a ton of really yummy food...I'm still craving some italian beef and sugar cookies this morning (thank you ladies for all that you contributed!)  The office space ended up working pretty well, we set up some big tables next to the desks and it allowed 3 dedicated spaces for 3 different craft groups to hang at.  We had one table of crocheters, one for scrapbookers, and one for those who wanted to play around with making jewelry.  All in all, it was a great night...I'm looking forward to the last-Tuesday of the month with great anticipation!!!

Check us out.....
