So, tomorrow is the big day....Craft Night Numero Uno!!!!  I can't wait!  It sounds like we're going to have a great turnout!  Just in case everyone needs directions to my office, you can check out my address and contact info here!

Kitchen Crafting

Here's a little update on what I've been working on to kill the time until the first of (hopefully) many craft nights that start next week...I'll call this "Kitchen Crafting" since it's sometimes as much of a hobby for me as my traditional crafts!  Also, my garden is about ready to overwhelm me...I've got so many veggies and not enough things to do with them, so I always revert back to my tried-and-true Make Salsa And Jelly Method!!!  Come to think of it...maybe my craft buddies will get to sample some as my snack to share...hmmmm.... :)

It's a date...

Ok, so I'm just ready to burst...I'm so excited!  The response from the wonderful women that I have the priveledge to call friends was A-MAZ-ING!!!  Apparently I'm not the only one out there yearning for some dedicated time to be crafty! 

We have a date set and everything...It looks like we're going to have our first craft night in just over one week!  After survyeing everyone on FB, it looks like Tuesday nights are our best option...it must have been meant to be, because EVERYONE was available then!  (Which also makes me think that Tuesdays must be everybody's down-time day!)  So...to all of my fellow cornfield crafters...mark your calendars...we'll be meeting the last Tuesday of every month any time after 5:30pm.  Just to make it easy, we're going to start out at my office, but I have a feeling we'll soon be outgrowing that space since we've got over a dozen ladies already interested!!!  We'll see how that goes for starters...I'm so blessed to have such fun-loving, supportive friends.

How to begin...

So first off, I have to admit...this blogging thing is intimidating!! I originally came up with the idea to blog because I'm wanting to start a local craft group/bee...I thought a blog might be a good way to keep my yet-to-exist group members informed of the updates pertaining to the group, as well as a forum of sorts to communicate with. So, here I am...an idea, but no actual group yet! :)

My husband and I moved to this little rural piece of Heaven a little over a year ago, and we love it! I opened my own small business, we bought our first house, and we celebrated 5 years of marriage this summer! Things feel like they are settling in quite nicely for us, but I can't seem to shake the feeling that I've completely neglected my love of all things crafty this last year! So...I'm taking action! I might be the only one in my craft group so far, but I'm already jumping for joy at the prospect of having some dedicated time to do the things I love! What are those things?....well I'm so glad you asked! :) Here are my favorite crafts in no particular order:

Crochet (I'd call myself intermediate)
Quilting (I love it way more than I am good at it!)
Scrapbooking (I haven't done this in about 5 years, but oh how I used to love it)
Jewelry Making (this is a new obsession for me)
I also love cooking, baking, gardening, canning, classic cars, and watching old movies!

So needless to say, when I make the time, I can certainly keep myself busy! Now it seems that the trick will be to see who'd like to get together and be crafty with me!!!
